Powertrain and Battery Details
The BYD Sealion 7 is powered by a substantial 82.56kWh Blade Battery, available in both RWD and AWD configurations.
- The RWD variant features a single rear-mounted motor delivering 308bhp and 380Nm, with a claimed range of up to 567km on a single charge.
- The AWD Performance variant, on the other hand, produces a massive 523bhp and 690Nm, and BYD claims a range of 542km for this top-end model.
Both setups use BYD’s advanced e-Platform 3.0 architecture, known for efficient battery management, strong performance, and safety.
Real-World Range Test Results
As per CarWale’s test, the top-spec AWD Performance variant of the Sealion 7 was put through a controlled real-world range evaluation.
The test conditions included:
- AC temperature set at 22°C
- Fan speed at level 3
- Drive mode in default
- Regen level set to standard
Under these conditions, the Sealion 7 managed to achieve a real-world range of 369km before the battery was fully depleted. This translates to around 68% of its claimed 542km range, which is a respectable figure given India’s varied driving environments and weather conditions.
Variants, Price & Colour Options
The BYD Sealion 7 is offered in two variants — Premium and Performance — and comes in four colour options: Atlantis Gray, Cosmos Black, Aurora White, and Shark Gray. In India, prices for the model start at ₹48.90 lakh (ex-showroom), placing it above the Atto 3 and directly in competition with luxury EVs like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6.
Final Thoughts
While the BYD Sealion 7 may not fully match its claimed range in real-world testing, achieving nearly 370km on a single charge is still impressive for a high-performance AWD electric SUV.
